Rediscovered French Noir

Classe Tous Risque

 

I went to the BFI to see Classe Tous Risque, a French Noir directed by Claude Sautet. Neglected on release and overshadowed by the emerging Nouvelle Vague movement, this is a tough, muscular film exploring issues of trust, betrayal, regret and friendship. Jean-Pierre Melville cited it as major influence.
